The Jewish people of yesterday prayed the Psalms, including Our Lord. Every human emotion is expressed in the Psalms. The Psalms are today still a critical element of Jewish life. Praying the Psalms formally in Western Christianity dates to our beloved Saint Benedict, who prescribed all 150 Psalms recited in the length of a week. It is this one week cycle that is prayed here.
