Advent is indeed remarkable to the highest degree. It is in Advent, where we get the formal, grace-filled opportunity to shed those things that block us from the author of our salvation. Where, along with the Psalmist, we can thus sing "O raise high the gates of glory, that the King of Glory may enter."
